Perfect storm of bad management decisions, millenials being uninterested in motorsports and massive changes in advertising delivery.
Also have had a wave of big name retirements without adequately keeping the talent pipeline primed.

Sports viewership, overall, has dropped in half over the last decade. The effects are different among sports. Some, like the NBA and Premier Football are doing well.
Others, like NASCAR, Indy car, and golf have dropped off a cliff.
But the general trend is down, down, down for all TV sports.
