Instead of suggesting reading material, some practical advice:

-Attend services for whatever denomination you are, every week. No excuses.

-If your denomination practices confession, actually go and confess your sins. Start doing this regularly, preparing yourself with a proper examination of conscience.

-Examine where you go astray from core traditional Christian morality (not diluted modernist crap) and make a deliberate effort to improve. This isn't simply about being nice. To you care for the poor and sick? Do you treat your body as the temple of God that it is? Do you casually blaspheme in your language? Do you follow traditional Christian sexual mores? Attempt to cut back on sin wherever you can.

-For all Western Christians, it's Lent right now. Start practicing a proper Lenten fast if you aren't.
