when "classic rock" became a radio format in the late-80's, the standard was usually songs that were 15+ years old. so, in 1988, they'd focus on songs from 1973 and earlier.
by that standard, classic rock begins in 2003, which means bands like Fall Out Boy and Evanescence should be making their classic rock radio debuts this year.
