CR. Texas going blue is like 10:1. Texas only happens in a huge wave where it would be seat #51 or 52. But it is amazing that someone like Manchin, who should be utterly done here based on 2016 when Trump beat Hillary by 40+, now has a very good chance to hang on. The worst fact for the GOP in the senate is how few of the flip-able seats they are not making competitive. It's basically a question of how many pickups the Dems can make, and there are at least a couple that look very likely if Trump has a sub-40 approval rating in November like he had for most of last year.

33 percent seems about right to me. The dems are probably slight favorites in Nevada and Arizona. As for the the seats they are defending, they should be favored in all but MO. Manchin, Tester, and Heitkamp are very popular. If the dems win in Nevada and arizona and lose in MO it’s 50/50, thanks to Steve Bannon’s shenanigans in Alabama. The dems also have an outside shot of winning in Tenneseee and Texas (I think Bresden has a better chance than O’Rourke). Put it all together and 33 percent seems right, at least for now. A lot could change in 9 months of course.

This politics inside baseball bullshit is 100% faggot but Trump is really fucking up on district court nominations. He needs to start getting people through -- too many empty seats, and he can't dick around appointing political cronies who don't know what the fuck they're doing. I understand that CoA appointments are going to be somewhat political, but politicizing district courts is a disaster

It should be like a pool of well-qualified applicants and a board of local lawyers elected by local lawyers holds hearings where people who know the candidate can speak for or against. Fuck the senate having anything to do with it. We need opportunities to remove many functional aspects of government as possible from the effects of the filibuster and toward a basic competence review or they will fall apart in this era of politics. End result might be fewer D.Ct. make it to appellate, which is a small price to pay for a working judiciary branch.

CR this should be discussed more often. There's a built in moderate/centrist Republican pitch related to competence and waste, because it's a trial court, so you need to actually know shit about how it works to not fuck up or you're wasting taxpayer money. Appellate fags can just tag along with the smartest person on their side and hire clerks to tell them what to say if they want to slack. If libs were smart they would've been pushing this for years. This is the kind of issue that Clinton would've pushed but the Obama Dems are too low IQ to connect the dots.

It was very very retarded to not appoint that ND lady senator to a cabinet spot.
