they essentially took half your ordinal ranking from the SP and your ordinal ranking from the long program and added them. lower number won, with the tiebreaker being the LP. |

now i'm with you that i tend to prefer a holistic evaluation, but certainly the old system was similar in many ways to a lot of sports. |
