If they don't want to play then they don't have to. Education costs are sky high and you want to spend yet more money on these retards?
It wouldn't work anyway. They would get title IX pwnd if they didn't also pay the Women's basketball team or whatever. And they don't bring in jack shit. The best solution is to just allow players to profit from their name and image. Let them sign shoe deals and sell autographs and do advertisements.

The fans are cheering for the laundry, D League teams would wipe the floor with most college teams, how many fans are interested in following the D League?
The colleges are creating all the economic value, they might as well capture the economic rewards

Resources are finite, why give it to the athletes? If they think playing in the D League or overseas somewhere is a better deal, let them do that.
Lots of occupations have licensing regulations that limit how people can sell their labor, why should I feel especially concerned about the plight of athletes?
As a society, athletes are really low on the list of classes of people we're screwing over

baseball players have the most professional options. but so do bball players.
some NCAA athletes have none, but is that a rationale that colleges have to pay student athletes?
a "monopoly" in what? non-professional athletics? what does that even mean? all college athletes are entitled to a paying athletic job?

if it comes to that i'd say kick them out to some professional minor league and let college football be what it is--an amateur sport.

These guys do get paid. A lot.
- free tuition and chance at a free college degree
- free hous8ng for four or five years
- literally unlimited food for four or five years
- literally unlimited pussy for four or five years
- free paid tutors. Many big time programs even have people who sit in class with athletes and take notes FOR them. These athletes get every advantage to get ahead
- schools find ways to “pay” athletes too. They often disguise it by giving them too much money for books (allowing them to pocket the rest), giving them like $150/day for food stipend when traveling for the school, etc. I was on the track team and the scholarship dudes literally got checks from the school that even they had no idea what for
- boosters give all sorts of cool perks, trips, dinners, etc to big time athletes, sometimes even cash under the table
In short, they have it good. Better than any of us.
