literally every single example of the "sunk cost fallacy" i've seen involves economists trying to conflate the obvious truth that you can't change your bad decisions from the past with an inhuman denial of the fact that humans tend to feel bad about failing to follow through on their previous commitments even if they no longer think those commitments are a good idea

No because the problem is one of asset allocation. Not every kid is destined for academic success but nearly every parent invests heavily in education. You need to find what your kid’s talents are early and foster the fuck out of them
