Second day Banteay Srei and the landmine museum (which is on the road back from there). Watched sunset from hill temple.
After a while, there is definitely some fatigue from seeing similar stuff over and over, so I would not plan on staying more than 3 days. |

One thing we accidentally did which was cool was to go Angkor Wat in the middle of the day. No tour groups, so we pretty much had the place to ourselves (relatively speaking) even if was ridiculously hot. |

I like PP. It’s not an authentic shithole any more but super cheap, interesting history and complete disregard for rules and laws if you bring some USD. Still pretty easy to get drugged up, shoot a rocket launcher and fuck a 12-year-old for <$100 total. |

spend a third day taking a day trip somewhere. i went to a rural fishing village with stilts a few years ago that was totally untouristed. these hidden gems tend to get popular and ruined, but there's always a new hidden gem popping up that you can find if you do your research.
on this day trip, we also stopped at a temple which is totally off the beaten path from the normal group of temples because it's very far away from the rest of them. i think it's this but would have to double check -- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beng_Mealea . there was literally nobody there. the ranger showed me around for free (gave him a tip; he wasnt even working for a tip and just seemed bored and happy to move around).
SR is a shitty town and is totally overrated. it's just one of many shitty backpacker towns in SE asia that white people have totally ruined. i dont get the appeal and i dont see why anyone thinks it's fun. |
