Gunmos, I'm heading to the gun store to buy a pistol & AR-15. Any suggestions?

I believe the theory is that a DI gun is dirtier, requires more cleaning and is less reliable. That is the basis of the rumor (or truth, depending who you ask) that an AR is unreliable princess and will break down if not meticulously maintained.
My experience is that a DI gun’s reliability is similar to a piston gun, however my test sample is a decent AR that has been well maintained against a well maintained mini 14.
The real survivalist nuts, as opposed to the suburban preppers who wouldn’t even know how to pitch the tent that they obsess about efficiently packing, I know will generally take a mini 14 over an AR. This is probably out of the historical reputations of each weapon and not today’s reality.
For the record I dislike ARs because I don’t like shooting a rifle with a pistol grip. I fucking love my mini 14.
