the group followed me from another firm and i personally recruited all 10 of them. |

This would not have been possible if i had not recruited my friends from old failing firm.
They made me partner and just told me my compass 500k all in this year.
The work i have is not extremely portable. very large conflict footprint, not marketable to bigger firms. also need to have a "large firm" so that clients are comfortable given the large geographic footprint of cases. |

(2) i have to travel for deps/trials and it sucks to be away from them so much of the year. i need to ship out for a pretrial tomorrow and won't be home for 3 weeks. later this year i will need to do 2 weeks of deps in Hong Kong, 2 weeks of deps in Japan, maybe deps in Germany, then travel for more hearings for a few more weeks. then we have 3 more sets of trials at year end all over country.
so yeah ill be doing lots of this traveling, but i would rather be with wife and kids. i don't consider that to be vacationing. |
