One sticks out - Outspoken, Worlds Collide in DC in 1993. Outspoken was fucking insane. Huge pileons and stage diving etc. during worlds collide these skins started a huge fight with mace and a dude pulled a gun. I know nobody cares about those bands now but the show was ridiculous.
My first show was Shelter, 108 (when they were just a side project), Rorschach and Assuck at the same venue in early 1993. There’s a book about 90s hardcore called Burning Fight and the foreword is about that show as being emblematic of how diverse the scene was at the time in terms of bands’ sounds.
Avail in a laundromat in 1994 in Lubbock Tx when I was visiting my grandparents. Weird show.
Earth crisis and mouthpiece at middlesex cc in 1996 when EC got yogurt thrown on them. I was standing next to Sean McCabe (rip) when he threw it. Huge fight broke out.

In 1994 we drove to middlesex cc to see integrity and lifetime. Anyone who knows the bands knows that’s a weird matchup. They also played together the next day in dc. So my friend interviewed integrity at the dc show and asked whether the bands were friends and the guitarist said “yeah dwid’s fucking the singer haha”. It was funny. Later onstage this band Bowel who came with integrity from Cleveland called rob fish (resurrection, 108) a faggot and the guitarist of lifetime got up on a chair and started screaming “fascist!!!”
In 1995 shelter was playing dc. My friend stagedove and accidentally punched out a flourescent light. Cut his hand open. So while they’re changing the light RAy Cappo says “Porcell got a new krsna name. Wanna hear it?” Pause and I yell “COCKSUCKER!”
Long pause, he looks very angry. Never says porcells new name. Lol. At one point he looked right at me and I pointed at my friend standing next to me. To this day I have no idea what possessed me to say that. I think I told that story here before

This thread is dope. Any of you listen to the Axe to Grind podcast? Tom Sheehan from Indecision/Most Precious Blood (now an NYC shitlawyer), Bob Shedd (Revelation A&R), and Pat Kindlon (Drug Church/Self Defense Family) discussing hardcore in a sports talk format. Really got me back into it the past few years after taking some time off.
Old shit I'm into right now: Crown of Thornz (TUI ripped them off hard), GB, early Shelter. Fuck it, I'll even ride for that nu metal as fuck Earth Crisis album.
New shit: Bay Area hxc (Gulch, Drain, Sunami), Fury, Mindforce (new 12" on Triple B is straight thrashcore).
Once fraudvirus is over, think we'll have a nice resurgence of true DIY shows, but also a lot of bands will quit because it won't economically make sense anymore.

ugh they talk about that awful shelter record? that has to be entertaining.
about a year ago, i saw ray cappo out on the street in downtown manhattan after i had finished an NLRB hearing. i was standing outside with the associate working with me on the case and i noticed a young girl with a YOT shirt on and i thought "huh, that kid must have a dad into hardcore or something" then i noticed that the dad was ray cappo. when they were walking by, i said "hey, ray cappo!" and he was very standoffish. he just said "yes?" and i said "how's it going" and he said "fine" and just kinda kept walking. he seems like a dickhead. i mean, like 50 people know or care about your stupid music so when some lolyer looking dude in a suit recognizes you on the street, maybe say a few words.
it turns out that YOT was playing a string of like 4-5 consecutive shows in NYC and brooklyn so that's why he was in town. i tried to go to the show the night this happened but it was sold out so i went and got drunk instead.

Hahahah "Hey Ray, remember when you got mad at me for yelling "COCKSUCKER" in 95?"
I like YOT, but GB smokes them. Walter is just a top tier songwriter across the board. I was actually exposed to him via Rival Schools in like 8th grade and that still holds up.
Ever see Indecision back in the day? The recording on Unorthodox is so bad that I just can't behind it, but the band history episode was fascinating.
