It’s Stockholm syndrome surrounding work ethic. Basically anyone who has any priorities besides work is an absolute pussy and is looked at as ill. Seeing senior and junior associates work hard to collect pennies on the dollar is hilarious.
The best story that sums up biglaw was being in a room with 3 partners. A partner on my deal said he had to leave at 6 to pick up his kids on a conference call. The three partner all talked mad shit and acted like this dude was insane. That’s life in biglaw. You are supposed to do the job and let money cover all other aspects of life.
I would never go back to biglaw unless it meant avoiding being homeless.
