Ferris is so chill, so fratty, he can skip school to dance in parades and attend baseball games even when there is no parade scheduled in chicago and it's not baseball season. nb, cameron and Ferris do not live in chicago but the North shore suburbs (as noted above) and just as Ferris seems to warp reality around him in the limited world of suburban high school, so too does Chicago itself transform into a playground for the whims of Ferris Bueller, Cameron's idol.
Cameron is us. We are Cameron. Ferris is right in front of us but always out of reach.
