I took her for a walk up Big 'C' hill. We watched the sunset on the SF bay which was partially obscured by the trees of the surrounding forest. She commented on the beautiful view. I said "Too bad we can't just wave our hands and move these trees out of the way." She shrieked "No it isn't! Don't ever tamper with the forest or cut down trees."
I moved closer and put my arm around her. She shrieked again "What are you doing?" I quickly uttered the first plausible reason I could think of other than the obvious: "Trying to keep you warm." She said "I'm not cold."
Needless to say it did not go as planned. Nevertheless I do not regret my choice to go to Berkeley over Caltech. Consider this when you are choosing where to go.
