There are so many needy children in this country. I could see myself adopting (maybe one adopted kid in addition to one natural kid).

no interest in raising someone else's kids. absolutely zero.

and that's not to say i don't like helping out with other kids and guiding them -- i'd just rather raise my blood.

There are so many kids who need love. If I ever get to a point where I'm stable enough to provide a household for them to live in I feel like it would be be selfish not to.

There are so many people on the planet as it is...I feel like it would be immoral for me to have more than one or so of my own.

that's a noble mindset, but i don't think adopting out of a sense of obligation is healthy.

rather than me giving you an answer that you'll find unconvincing, ponder on it until the time comes when you are able to adopt.

Genetics plays the most important role in determining someone's personality and IQ. People that have kids outside of a committed relationship as an adult generally have major personality issues and flaws. I have seen multiple cases of adoption that were ultimately tragic - the kid ends up a total mess. It is too big a risk.

Anyone adopting a kid should be aware they will likely have major issues. This study won't say the real cause - these kids are the product of parents with bad genetics.

https://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2015/12/adoption-happily-ever-after-myth/418230/

A new follow-up report from the think tank suggests the problems for adopted children not only fail to fade with time—they multiply. In the new report, Zill finds that by eighth grade, fully half of adopted children have diagnosed disabilities. One third have received an out-of-school suspension by the end of that school year, compared to 10 percent of children living with both biological parents. And adopted students performed significantly below average on reading, math, and science assessment tests; although the adopted students with diagnosed disabilities performed slightly worse than their other adopted peers, the difference was not statistically reliable. Like the October report, the new analysis was based on a longitudinal study of a national sample of kindergarteners conducted by the National Center for Education Statistics.
