The fundamental issue underlying these types of toxic interactions is one spouse intentionally behaving in a way to hurt the other spouse. All such behavior must be identified and excised from the relationship immediately. This includes yelling, the silent treatment, causing jealousy, etc.
Sure there are times when you are so upset or flustered that you simply cannot bring yourself to communicate with your wife in a rational manner, but those moments are relatively rare and fleeting. The second you regain your composure, reengage communicating with your wife, identify what went wrong in the conversation, and commit to fixing it.

Any lip is simply unacceptable -- there is 0 reason for her to complain about any part of her life.
It used to happen more regularly when we were going through a period of job/life stress and deep unhappiness with life -- maybe every 1-2 months there would be something and she would be screaming at me about who knows what. I don't recall it happening since we've had our kid (so at least 3-4 years), we moved into an actual house, and my career stabilized a bit. |

I'm lucky to be married to someone who's pretty level-headed. Lots of guys provide, are stand-up men, good fathers, etc. and still get screamed at. |
