We were always going through this when I was working at start-ups. Our COOs used to not pay bills and call it "preserving our capital position".

That just means you aren't paying your bills.

Yeah. That’s the issue.

Lots of vendors aren’t being paid. The lenders aren’t being paid. It’s only a matter of time before the company can’t make payroll because (a) it doesn’t have sufficient cash in the ordinary course or, more likely, (b) the Lenders sweep the company’s cash.
