That said, I could likely cut back but I'm saving a lot. I used some of that to buy an investment property this year, which is generating rental income. My plan is to add another few properties over the next five years and then transition to a very part time practice. |

You also have freedom as a therapist to be creative with your clients. Clients, generally speaking, like their therapists and enjoy the time they spend with them. There are no real deadlines or endless waves of work. There are no opposing parties. You have a great deal of autonomy and are not really beholden to anyone unless you work in an institutional setting. Your fellow therapists tend to be altruistic, highly empathetic people who are not repulsive to be around.
Lawyers, on the other hand, are viewed by their clients as an extremely expensive necessary evil. They are forced to pay you to navigate an obtuse system where "fairness" is secondary to procedures and regulations. At least half of your colleagues are nasty, autistic or mentally ill, and the sort of people you would actively avoid everday IRL. |
