wtf kind of idiotic system is this.

jesus christ, it's awful. scrap it all. start over.

it's just self-impressed lawyers sucking each other's cocks for $$$, prolonging things unnecessarily.

There are always grounds, but probably the other witnesses offering testimony of prior bad acts. I thought they could only introduce that shit as rebuttal when the defendant offers prior good acts as a defense, but I haven't done criminal law in awhile.

Probably also the admission of the civil settlement as overly prejudicial.

to be fair, Mesereau fell asleep in court yesterday. easy ineffective assistance of counsel appeal. brilliant on their part.

yeah, you can fall asleep at the defense table in the middle of trial but if it doesn't make a difference its not a basis for appeal. That's one thing I learned WAAAAY back in LS.

And actually it looked like he fell asleep during the reading of prior testimony By The Judge. That shit would have been objected to Prior to the judge reading it aloud before the jury.

Him falling asleep at that point isn't going to be a legitimate basis to grant an appeal. Aint life grand?

And, lol, I suppose further an argument can be made that feigning sleep during portions of the case harmful to your client can be a tactical body-presentation move--its not important jury, its so unimportant I'm gonna close my eyes and rest for a little while.
