Started eating better, taking bullshit apple cider vinegar in the morning, and running about 8 weeks ago before a trip to Hawaii with my wife. Kept it up after the trip.

Went from 213 to 200 pounds. Had to buy 32 waist jeans for the first time since 11th grade.

I can still squat 315 and DL 405 for reps. Benching 245 and OHP 155 for reps. Can do around 18-19 pull ups.

And I can run forever without getting tired. Run a warm up mile between 9.5 and 10 mph and then run HIIT at 12 mph for 400 meters followed by a 5 mph quick walk for 200 meters. Repeat 5 times.

Feeling great, can play basketball hard without getting winded, look better and actually lost some body fat. Blood pressure and resting pulse went down a little too.

Wife used the treadmill twice I think and gives me dirty looks when I don't want dessert.

By the way this bullshit apple cider vinegar does seem to suppress carb cravings to some extent. I have no cut out carbs (in fact I still eat candy at night while high) but it's maybe helped me cut total carbs by 50% maybe without any other changes in lifestyle or missing it.

no I pour 2 tablespoons (1 oz) of vinegar into 8-10 oz of water. This effectively reduces the pH from 3.5 to 4.5 which turns it from pretty acidic to basically sprite. I water it down to avoid possible damage to my teeth and esophagus from repeated ingestion of acid.

I have no idea what it does, or how it does it. It may be all bro science in my head, but I do feel that I have no carb cravings at least until 4 pm or so when I take vinegar in the morning. It may have other health benefits, but I got into the habit of it and it hasn't hurt.

I don't want to push it like I push fiber, cause it might very well be bullshit - but for whatever reason it has accompanied positive change in how I look and feel.

Her mom is also overweight so while she looks totally fine now, I don't want it to be an okay habit of gaining 1-2 pounds every year forever and next thing you know you are 50 and fat with diabeetus and can't come hiking with me.

Its a sensitive subject for any woman and hard to broach without seeming like a shithead. Also the fact that I am blessed with an exceptional natural metabolism and love candy doesn't help because I can't just remove all shitty food from the house.

I just want to avoid the inevitable yearly weight gain plys 7-10 pounds with each kid if we have kids. She has a small frame so she cant gain 20 pounds like NBD.

my strongest ever squat was 405, DL was 500 and bench was 315. That was in 2010 (31) and I weighed maybe 220 at the time. I could not run or play basketball very effectively at that weight. I had gone on the texas method and gained a lot of strength and a lot of weight quickly.

Now my squat and deadlift are about the same strength - my reps are exactly the same. My form is better - I think my body adopted to having strong legs and back without the extra weight because I did not start squatting seriously until 2006 or 2007 (shortly before teaching nyuug).

I've been benching my whole life so I think my upper body strength has plateaued relatively to my ability at any weight. I definitely can't bench 315 - maybe not even 290 now. But I would need to gain serious mass to do that, and it's not worth it.

3. Running prematurely ages you. It's not your imagination: marathon runners look terrible:

Could exercise be creating harmful free radicals? Oxidizing glucose to produce energy for our bodies is messy, creating free radicals the way cars burning their fuel produce combustion by-products out the exhaust. This happens even if we’re just idling, living our day-to-day lives. What if we rev our bodies up and start exercising and really start burning fuel? Why do we care about oxidative stress? Well, it’s “implicated in virtually every known human disease and there is an increasing body of evidence linking free radical production to the process of aging.” Why? Well, if free radicals damage DNA, and exercise creates free radicals, does exercise damage our DNA if we don’t have enough antioxidants in our system to douse the radicals? Yes, in fact, ultra-marathoners show evidence of DNA damage in about 10% of their cells tested during a race, which may last for up to two weeks after a marathon. But what about just short bouts of exercise? We didn’t know until recently.

After just five minutes of moderate or intense cycling we can get an uptick in DNA damage. We think it’s the oxidative stress, but “regardless of the mechanism of exercise-induced DNA damage” the fact that a very short bout of high-intensity exercise can cause an increase in damage to DNA is a cause for concern.

if you ever get a real job in an office environment you will see what long hours and stress do to people. The shape of 40 year old white collar workers is pathetic.

It feels good to be in shape. It feels good to be stronger and faster than almost everyone. And of course its a way to fight off the inevitable decline that you will start to experience soon enough.

I will clearly not age gracefully and will probably get depressed when I can no longer play basketball or do the things I like to do. But that's for later.

what's your mile time? if you're busting out 400s at 12mph, you might be pretty close to a 5-minute mile. being able to do that and bench 300 at the same time is almost godlike fitness

If he's running 5xmile at 6 mins then 200m jogging rest and 400m at 75 then he should be able to run sub 5, even with fairly long rest (3-4 mins) after the 400s. Although now looking at the op I think he's running a single mile and then 5x400 at 75, which is decent for a wagecuck but not really indicative of sub 5. Also treadmills are flame Earl, run this on a track.

Sorry I am not running the mile warm up X 5. I am running a single mile at between 9.5 and 10 mph. Then running the sprint/fast walk.

I can run a single 6 minute mile.

Down to 198.9 after taking a shit this morning.

work out today:

225 front squats to warm up for a couple of sets.

155 X 5 OHP (not great I know)

dead lift 405 X 3

3 sets of pull ups - trying to do 9-10 reps of weighted pull ups with 25 pound weight.

maybe some bullshit bicep stuff if there is time, but probably not.
