the russian mosin nagant gained a cult following during and after the war. it was not the most accurate weapon, but it was insanely durable and easy to maintain compared to other rifles. it was basically just a few steel pipes shoved into some wood and given a trigger. an ugly, tough, cheap, remarkable battle rifle.

we did. The Garand was manufactured in the millions , reliable, and semiauto, while everyone else was using bolt actions. The German stg44 came too late and too few to make a difference. And we won't even mention the SVTTT-40
