STAN REAVES/REX/SHUTTERSTOCK New York attorney Aaron Schlossberg, who has been dubbed the “racist lawyer,” after a rant against Spanish-speaking employees in a Manhattan deli went viral last week, has several cases involving entertainment companies on his docket currently.
According to court filings in New York State, Schlossberg is listed as representing a company called Niche Music Group which is suing The Orchard, the entertainment distribution company that was acquired by Sony Music Entertainment in 2015, over an act that allegedly breached its contract.
Among Niche’s specialties are a capella artists and one such group, the Barbershop Harmony Society, according to court documents, “was induced to terminate its contractual relationship with [Niche],” and signed a deal with the Orchard directly. In addition, the suit cites that there was an attempt to entice another group signed to Niche, the barbershop quartet Vocal Spectrum, to bring its music to a competitor.
Niche is seeking $1 million in punitive damages.
In addition, Schlossberg is representing Mammoth Entertainment, run by film producer and investor Todd Courtney, who is credited as an EP on 2015’s “Beasts of No Nation,” in a lawsuit against Global Poverty Project, Inc., which produces the Global Citizen Festival.

The organization’s mission is to bring awareness and aid to the plight of global poverty.
The New York edition, held in Central Park in Sept. 2016, featured performances by Rihanna, Kendrick Lamar and Demi Lovato, as well as appearances by Coldplay’s Chris Martin and Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder.
A partnership with Complex Media, a subsidiary of Hearst, and Verizon, which Mammoth claims to have orchestrated, was due to pay 10% of any revenue affiliated with the project to Mammoth. According to the suit, Mammoth was effectively cut out.
Schlossberg is also representing Courtney in two other pending suits involving a real estate dispute.
According to the New York Post, when Schlossberg appeared at a Queens court for proceedings on Thursday, he “was treated like a pariah by fellow attorneys.”
Elsewhere in New York City, protesters flooded the street outside of Schlossberg’s upper west side apartment on Friday. The disruption included a mariachi band and free tacos for all gathered.
UPDATE: Niche Music Group has fired Schlossberg as its attorney in litigation against The Orchard, announcing on May 19: “We were not aware of his views and he never expressed them to us. We are appalled by his comments and behavior.” |

Date: May 20th, 2018 4:20 PM Author: know-it-all wonderful cuckold market The man who berated employees and customers for speaking Spanish in a New York City cafe is the lead attorney in a lawsuit against the Global Citizen festival, as well as Sony Music over an accusation a label subsidiary poached a barbershop quartet.
Aaron Schlossberg, an attorney in New York, was identified as the man in a Fresh Kitchen in Manhattan who angrily told employees and customers to speak English because “This is America!” Since the video went viral, Schlossberg has been kicked out of his office and flagged for disciplinary review by two New York lawmakers. Schlossberg has a number of open cases in New York Superior court and in September, filed a lawsuit on behalf of his client Mammoth Entertainment against Global Citizen and the Global Poverty Project, a non-profit festival series that works with groups like Live Nation, for alleged breach of contract and eight other counts over a financing and distribution deal for content from the festival that eventually collapsed.
See Tickets 300×250 According to the lawsuit, Mammoth was approached by a representative of Global Citizen in 2016 and asked to help facilitate a deal with Verizon to produce, finance and distribute documentaries about the non-profit and its popular festival series, which stages huge concerts around the world including an annual event in New York that was headlined by Stevie Wonder, Green Day, The Killers, The Lumineers and The Chainsmokers at the Great Lawn in New York’s Central Park on Sept. 23.
According to a Sept. 21 civil complaint written by Schossberg and filed on behalf of Mammoth, representatives at Global Citizen had begun to seek changes to their deal with Mammoth and eventually attempted to terminate their contract. Schossberg argues that Global Citizen didn’t have a right to breach the deal and accuses the company of trying to cut Mammoth out of the agreement so it could work directly with Verizon.
“The fact that (Global Citizen) acted in bad faith by negotiating directly with Verizon, in order to exclude Mammoth from a deal that Mammoth had created and structured, was not only violation of explicit terms of the Agreement, but also a violation of the implied contractual obligations of good faith and fair dealing,” Schossberg wrote in a civil complaint. Attorneys for Global Citizen dispute the claim and argue Mammoth never lived up to their side of the deal and failed to properly secure financing and distribution for the documentary series.
The suit is just one of a number of entertainment-related lawsuits filed by Schossberg in New York state court. Schossberg represents Mammoth’s Chairman Todd Courtney in a fight against the Chadwin House in Manhattan, the building where he once owned a condominium but was forced out following a 2010 foreclosure. According to the suit, Courtney didn’t want to give up his parking spot — in response, the building’s management put a boot on his $50,000 Range Rover.
Courtney has also hired Schossberg to sue Bank of New York Trust Company over a foreclosure on a income property and a separate lawsuit against his lawyer in the case. Schossberg is also representing label Niche Music Group in a suit against Orchard and Sony Music. According to the suit, Orchard and Sony induced a group called the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America to breach its contract with Niche and sign with Orchard and then failed to follow up with the necessary obligations it had to compensate Niche and provide data and information.
In 2013, Schossberg filed a lawsuit on behalf of Headline Talent Agency, arguing the group was owed a commission by actress Alison Wright for helping her secure a role on the popular show The Americans.
