I feel like doing chores and shit when I get home instead of killself/poast. Sometimes I feel like I might pass out/die but that's just the body expelling too much fat at once idk.

Did keto last year. Felt great, but lost too much weight because I didn't have as much an appetite on a fat-based diet.

As far as I know, once you get used to keto, blood glucose becomes elevated for the reasons discussed in this article (i.e. the body/muscles aren't really using it, it's using fat), however this is not the same thing as having high blood glucose on a high carb diet, least of all "metabolically."

Anyway, the MD who wrote this article is probably a moron who could not pass Calc II and should not be trusted.

It exists it's just really hard to follow. Keto is actually not so much about protein as it is about eating Fat instead of carbs/sugar. Protein eventually gets metabolised into glucose anyway, just at a slower rate - the benefit of meat is that it's something to eat that fills you up, doesn't have sugar/carbs, and has a bunch of fat in it.

It's actually not even that bad to have some carbs (i.e. fruit) here and there as long as you stay in ketosis I find but ymmv.

Green veggies are light on carbs and are fine. Avocados are also gtg. Eggs also work but probably have whatever mysterious downside that meat has.

on my 9th day of keto.

feel great. much more motivated. hitting the gym, running, and/or taking long walks every day. not having problems falling asleep any more; back on a normal rhythm. a lot of this also has to do with going nodrink the last 2 weeks. i'm getting more stuff done around the apartment, not feeling depressed. it's 180. i think i've already lost a couple pounds, but i don't have a scale so not sure.

i've been eating a lot of buffalo chicken sausage (0 carbs) in spinach leaves topped with shredded cheddar, spicy mustard, and hot sauce.

sometimes i will make a couple cheeseburgers and eat with no bun.

for snacks, i like pepperoni and cheddar. i also occasionally eat pickles.

lol man, you need some fiber and more diverse nutrients. slurping down cheap meat and shredded cheddar and whatever 'buffalo chicken sausage' is will start to fuck you over as time goes by. a big part of health is dietary variation. pickles and a couple of cups of spinach here and there is not enough.

I eat tons of spinach. it's not just "here and there," i have it with almost every meal. as a result, i probably eat more greens than 80% of the population. and it's loaded with fiber.

i also take a methylated b vitamin/folate complex, because i have the dreaded homozygous T677T MTHFR mutation, which means i process folic acid at 10-20% efficiency, leading to high homocysteine & low folate & b12 levels.

Estrogen is a steroid sex hormone. Eating a fiber-rich diet flushes excess estrogen out of the body. Some vegetables may inhibit aromatase, the enzyme used by breast cancer tumors to produce their own estrogen. Flax seeds may reduce the number of menstrual periodsa woman has, reducing lifetime estrogen exposure. Phytoestrogens, such as those found in soy products, do not appear to promote cancer. Rather, soy seems to be protective against breast cancer. Xenoestrogens (human-made environmental chemicals found contaminating fish flesh) have been linked to early puberty and low sperm counts. Eating beef from growth hormone-implanted cattle and dairy products may feed hormone-dependent cancers. Commercial cow’s milk may come from pregnant cows, who have exceptionally high hormones levels (buttermilk and skim milk are on top of the list), even when the cows are not subjected to bovine growth hormone injections. This may be why skim milk consumption is linked to acne. Many of us have microscopic cancerous tumors growing inside of us and so reducing our intake and production of growth-promoting hormones in adulthood may be useful in slowing cancer growth.

thanks for this write up, though i was asking in jest. estrogen in men is principally made from a process called aromitization (and not from what you injest)

i know precisely what estrogen is lol. i’m currently on a long 500mg per week testosterone cycle supplemented by hcg and arimidex that keeps my estrogen levels at optimal levels. incidentally testosterone can have a bad impact on cholesterol levels - it turns out this doesn’t exactly hinder weight room performance

I eat a lot of meat, fast carbs just before very aggressive workouts and take a multivitamin every night. I also monitor my bloods carefully. Fuck all that other shit. I look and feel great and my doctors agree

You have to eat substantially to have energy to lift which is harder on keto. You'll feel like you have less energy than you actually do though.

I wasn't expecting any positive mental effects tbh. Also sometimes I feel like I'm going to die/pass out/cramps/thirst and shit so it's not all good.
