absolutely not.

there are MILLIONS of old cartoons that kids would be happy to watch, that are not in any way 'dated' or anything, and are not saturated with Kike shitlib indoctrination and perversion.

how can a kid not like Scooby Doo or something? or vintage Sesame Street/Electric Company, etc. it's all the same to them.

anything old from Disney is great too. those are your best bet.

My kid has been 100% hooked on to screens since 6 months. He is incredibly adept at the iPad and now can use it to change channels on the TV. He is 3. We rarely hire sitters because he is so well behaved in restaurants. It's actually easier to socialize him because more parents than not are "Tech on" or "Tech In" meaning they freely allow Tech and screens. I don't really moderate what he watches yet because he's too young to understand what is going on. I think his vocabulary is actually a bit larger than peers because he gets so much human language from so many different sources all day. I was surprised this worked out as well but wife and I both work biglaw so no choice at first. Would recommend to anyone.

He’s allowed 2 Mickey Mouse clubhouse episodes on weekends and if he starts getting restless at a restaurant after 20-30 min, we will allow an episode of Daniel tiger so we can finish eating. Because of the unpleasantness of going out to eat and rushing through meals, we almost never eat out now. I imagine this only gets worse with 2 until both kids are over 4.

That sounds like an amazing problem to have. We always order something immediately for him or bring a snack he can munch on until the food gets here and then he’s done in like 15 min. He also does not sit still and wants to run around the restaurant. One of us sometimes takes him outside while the other finishes eating and pays the check. It’s not relaxing or fun.

I guess I prefer it, but those times we're in a hurry it's absolute torture and everyone gets frustrated. She just wants to stare at people, play with her food, talk, etc. I use a timer when it gets bad at home, but that would make me look crazy when out. I think it's a distraction issue -- she loves to watch people.

My daughter does this a bit. We'll play games with her at the table (math problems, etc) and then say "ok, if you want another one, you need to eat three bites." Gets her motivated.

for my first, it was easy to restrict the amount of screen time until she was about 2.

it's been pretty much a free for all after the second was about 3 months or so.

Sesame Street is her favorite by far

Peg + Cat is second

Curious George and Dr. Seuss are tied for distant third

She doesn't know of anything else except for a handful of animated movies

I'd like to get her to watch some older cartoons, but she can watch the same Sesame Street episode 5x without getting bored so there hasn't been a need

Shaun the Sheep is free on Prime. Very mellow and ZERO dialogue.

Right now he's intro Star Wars Rebels & various Lego franchises (ninjas, knights, batman). Per week, I'd estimate his screen time is maybe 5 hours; like 3 on the weekend or so and 2 others scattered through the week (usually 10-15 min of NBA playoffs).

He's way more into audio books, that Geronimo Stilton series.

Only 'tech' screen time letting him use 3D Paint on my computer, we've done some old Atari 2600 games on the iPad, and just started him on Tetris. That's like ~1hr a week, max.

Our 3 1/2 y/o son watches:

Peppa Pig

Curious George

Cat in the Hat (the Martin Short PBS one)

Masha

He went through a Thomas phase that was pretty short; also short phases of Clifford.

And when he was younger a whole lot of Little Baby Bum.

Worringly, he always asks to watch some new show called "Pinkalicious" or something.

It's Pinkalicious and Peterrific. Based off of books. Focus is largely on Pinkalicious (a little girl who likes everything pink) but there's some focus on her brother Peter too.

I ordered the entire collection of 1930-1950 Mickey Mouse, Donald, and Goofy cartoons and we jusy cycle through those on Saturday mornings. They are solid, even though Disney has Leonard Maltin start off each cartoon with a cautionary warning about how far we've evolved to know that the Native American or Black stereotypes or use of guns in the episode are not OK.
