Sometimes I don’t feel like DIY and I always need state inspections. At dealerships I sit and watch as the crap ones don’t do what they say they do in services and then bitch out the service writer and make them do it. I saw a tech put on a lugnut with a giant impact gun with no torque stick and flipped out and made them replace the wheel stud. I have since stopped taking advantage of free services that come with vehicles and DIY or take it to my guy. I am going to try dealer service for the free service with the new Porsche and see if they are better. I watched them work on other cars for an hour and they were good. Date: May 25th, 2018 1:10 PM Author: Federal box office Everyone is a hack in my view (except for my savant mechanic). Dealerships won’t let you in the bays, but you can almost always watch through a window. I usually stand in the driveway and pace.
I should add, I am the only one my mechanic lets hang out in the bay. |

I am not saying hang out in the bay, I just do that because the owner of the shop and I are friends and I have known him for a dozen years and the mechanic appreciates me around (it is a general service shop so I know more about my vehicles than he does) and I help out. |

Bring my own oil & filter and for a $20 it's changed. Proud to be prole in this sense, opportunities for male bonding in this way are awesome. |
