As for the "magic" - Lucas just got big and stopped listening to criticism or even tolerating it. There was a great YouTube series about how the Star Wars prequels got made and it is clear that no one had the balls to really stop Lucas from ruining the movies. If you see BTS from the original trilogy you had the actors all the time arguing about the lines. |

I don't even know the Darth Emo Kid's name.
But at least I can describe the characters from Rogue one with at least some substance and backstory. I can't do that at all for the main movies. Snoke is just the new emperor. How did he get there? We know literally nothing about him and he has been the main antagonist in 2 movies and has already died. |
