The chiro is taking us all out to Cut in Beverly Hills for dinner (with our wives) and we also made attorneys fees on top of that. If you haven't been yet, Cut is probably the best steakhouse in LA. |

Go big and get a piece for everyone of the jap wagyu but it’s so rich that you prob won’t want more than 1 or 2. There are individual steaks too but sharing means you get to try more. For apps, I like the tuna tartare and the pork belly.

The rating is more important than the cut, IMO. At that level, it literally melts on your tongue and is truly one of the most distinctive eating experiences you can have. The only thing I encountered close to that was some pork fat thing I ate at an extravagant Chinese government sponsored dinner.
This is a picture of my portion of a $2k cut of A5 from Costco that I split with other steak enthusiast coworkers. If you're spending for an A5 cut at a restaurant, they should bring it out to you prior to cooking to inspect.

Going the Costco route assumes it's not your first rodeo so to speak when it comes to cooking a steak.
That said, we coached up a couple of novices that wanted to try and from the pics I saw, they did a good job. The difficulty is really knowing your equipment at home, no set formula as there is too much variance on stoves and ovens/broilers.
I also recommend crowdcow.com - we got some really good pieces from them.
