Date: June 16th, 2018 12:24 PM Author: mahogany swashbuckling digit ratio this incredibly weird thing happened to me when i was 9 or 10 years old that is hard to explain. episodically, out of the blue, it was like my hearing/auditory processing got distorted somehow and... i don't know how else to explain it, it was like every sound i registered as i was hearing it had a 'Deja vu' quality, like i was hearing it *before* i actually heard it? and people's voices were like echoing in my head? like phase shifted somehow. it was so strange. like an inner-ear disturbance or some really obscure 'childhood'nervous system malady type thing. it would only last like 24 hours, and it happened 3 or 4 times around age ten. |

I was wandering away from the group alone to look at some nature shit and suddenly felt really dizzy, and there was a weird rainbow light in the upper left corner of my vision that would not go away with eyes open or closed. It made me really distraught, I had to sit down, I pulled out my phone but nothing registered on it, like the phone was in my hand and working but I couldn't see or absorb anything on the screen. The rainbow light consumed my vision and for a moment I didn't know where I was or what I was doing, and I thought I might vomit. For some reason I tried to recall the faces of the people I was hiking with, but nothing. I could not remember anyone's faces at all.
After a few minutes it subsided, but I was pretty thoroughly freaked out. I thought I had had a seizure (not a convulsive seizure, a simple partial seizure I think: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simple_partial_seizure ), but the symptoms also match what an aura supposedly is so I was worried I might have a REAL seizure at any time. Instead, I felt a migraine coming on about an hour later, so I preemptively took Excedrin and that was that.
I get migraines which makes me think it could have been a pre-migraine aura instead of a seizure. In any case, scared the shit out of me. Haven't experienced anything like it before or since, and never went to a doctor about it. |
