The other option is honeycomb shades in the whole house except these pesky trapezoid windows in our bedroom that we'll need to shutter. That will be much, much cheaper. |

You can find tradesmen who specialize in these things who can do it for a reasonable price, $500 per window is what I was quoted. I didn't do it because my father-in-law is a former GC and he can do it himself, we just haven't gotten around to building them.
