But the only self-taught classical pianist i can think of is Alfred Brendel. There are more on the jazz side, but the best ones other than monk and tatum (Hancock, Jarrett, Corra, Evans) all had extensive training. Piano really is a hard as fuck 19-th century instrument. Crazy anyone still plays it today tbh |
