great, so i have to waste my whole day sitting by myself getting harangued about sports by a boorish cousin, while my mother gets to be with her immediate sisters who she loves gabbing to. i'm just there to be a fucking prop, like a "who's family is better" competition with her siblings.
she still tries to guilt trip me into these things and i'm almost 40. fucking sick of it. usually don't go.
the older i get, the more i hate how controlling people are. |

Thanksgiving is the only holiday they have in common so we usually do Thanksgiving at her parents because they are local, but sometimes at my parents (1,000 miles away). I'd say 3:1 in favor of her parents. |

Thanksgiving means a lot to my ukie inlaws, and they go all out for it. I'm actually tearing up right now remembering one of the last conversations I had with my late stepfather in law on a thanksgiving eve. we were both pretty drunk and went out for a cigarette. he talked for a long time about how much he loves america and the freedom and opportunity it's afforded him. I think for many immigrants, Thanksgiving is particularly special.
