Date: July 12th, 2018 11:07 PM Author: crusty brilliant foreskin half-breed i split time between a pretty traditional novus ordo parish and an fssp parish. and the biggest problem with the novus ordo parish is the music. it's just atrocious. like ghastly. they have 5 priests and 1 deacon. 1 of the priests and the deacon are OUTRAGEOUSLY liberal. ironically, both white. whereas the other priests (3 latino and the white irish msgr) are trad AF. thankfully they tell you in the bulletin who has what mass so I can avoid the liberal guys. one of whom (the liberal priest) legit you can tell retells the verbatim of the USCCB manual on homilies. Date: July 12th, 2018 11:33 PM Author: crusty brilliant foreskin half-breed 1--i do go to both english and spanish masses at the novus ordo and something i've noticed is the latino priests give different tone homilies to the spanish masses versus the english ones. they are a lot more touchy feely in the english ones. always orthodox, but they don't really hammer it home. in spanish, they don't mince words. the spanish speakers get the more rigorous teachings.

As for the other rites that RCs consider sacraments, there is a lot of variance as to how those are recognized or used in the various orthodox and protestant churches.
EDIT: As for conversion, the Episcopal church requires that you have been baptized (any denomination is fine) and confirmed (this must be done in TEC), with the exception that Roman Catholics, Lutherans and Orthodox may be recieved instead of confirmed. |
