He bashed Teresa May totally before even having dinner with her saying he "told her what to do" and she "didn't do it." Why would you bash the woman before you even break bread with her?
Additionally, his approval rating in the UK is 17/77, so he is marginally more popular than Putin, who has killed British citizens recently.
My Q is, remember when Obamsies went over and lectured the British public to vote "Remain" and then they voted for Brexit? People don't like foreign leaders coming over and telling them what to do.
Additionally bashing the woman may end up making her more popular and rally the public to her side.
