Quite the opposite, actually. When he announced, Trump's campaign consisted of maybe ten people operating out of a small office. A year later, he swept almost all swing states and utterly humiliated the establishment favorite. And despite being outspent and leading a divided party, he won the electoral vote by a larger margin than not only Kennedy, but also Carter and George W. Bush. One could argue that this was the most impressive victory in American political history.
