Rome/Florence/Venice bro. I don't see how this trifecta doesn't blow every other European trip out of the water at every turn.

I've done this. Venice is OVERRUN with Chinese tourists and most of the city is a chintzy tourist trap. Pretty, sure, but go off to some of the islands. Murano glass is a huge scam. It stinks like rotten fish. Suppose it's neat to see though.

Florence and Rome ar cr as fuck though.

Depends on how much you travel and if you've ever been to any of these places/EU in general. Quintessential and approachable is Paris.

Go to Paris and use it as your base. After 3-4 days in the city, take day trips to Versailles etc...then take the train and do a weekend in Amsterdam.

Or, like RSF said, go to Paris, then take the train south to the coast...rent a car and hit up Marseilles, Cannes, Nice and Monaco for the novelty. You can fly back from Nice.

depends on what you're looking for

mainland greece with a few days at an overpriced resort in santorini gives a good mix of ancient history + scenery + relaxation/luxury

if ur looking for more recent history + exploring traditional european towns then u probably want the usual italy/france/spain

that was the reason for my euro trip this year, good choice. 100% travelshrew but i liked greece in that it felt more "foreign" and exotic than going to a more familiar place like rome/paris/london. it can also be done pretty cheaply compared to the others.

if you go to southern europe, do it when daily highs are no more than 80F but before the resorts start closing (probably around october). got caught outside at 1pm on an 80 degree day in santorini and thought i was going to have a fuckin heat stroke despite being from the south. hotel prices go way down at off peak times as well

caveat: there's really only 1-2 days of stuff to do in athens so you'd need to do day trips to nearby locations or some intracountry traveling before you hit the islands. if you do santorini id do a minimum of 3 days, maybe up to 5. spring for a room with its own heated pool in a luxury resort in imerovigli or firostefani, can be done for 600-800/night in the offseason, and lounge around like a king
