It was my freshman year of college. I worked at a salon/spa 10 blocks from my apartment which I walked to 4 days a week. One day I noticed I was being followed. When I stopped he stopped always a few steps behind me. When I ducked into a coffee shop to lose him and he waited I got brave and addressed him. Stop following me. ‘I like to watch your .... move’ was the reply. When I finally made it to work crying we called the police as the man was still outside our building. When the police told me he had done nothing they could remove him for and to ‘maybe stop wearing tight pants’ was the first time I felt the unfounded guilt no woman should feel. We can be beautiful and proud of our bodies without paying for it in fear.
JFC, these attention whoring sluts will do anything for attention.
Trying to one-up her in the comments was this idiot who said:
My most recent time was at a wedding. I was a guest and didn't know anyone but the girl friend I attended with as her plus one. While at the reception a groomsman put his arm around my waist. I quickly turned away. And he immediately grabbed my hand and wouldn't let go. He said, c'mon let's dance. And I said no thank you and yanked my hand away. He attempted to grab me at the waist again and I pulled away.
The thing is we were all standing there in a group. At least 6 people, including my friend watched this happen. I walked away and someone said why didn't you just tell him you were married?
Because I didn't need to! Because it doesn't matter! Because I'm a human who said stop touching me! No one thought this man's behavior was out of line. Not one of his friends said anything to him. It was just "how he is."
I will not raise a son who doesn't understand the word no. I will not raise a daughter who doesn't know it's not rude to say no. I will never be a bystander who let's a man treat anyone like this behavior is OK.
This little situation was not that threatening, it was not scary, but it is common. Too common.
Do they even know how ridiculous they are?
