His investigation will not show Trump conspired with Russia. But the Russians really did hack the election, so by filing the indictments and explaining exactly how it went down, Mueller was doing Trump a favor so that Trump could be very specific and forceful.
Trump instead thinks it's all an attack on his legitimacy and so ends up making it look like he is still actively working on BEHALF of the Russians.
