Date: July 20th, 2018 8:05 AM Author: jade gunner love of her life third base coach worked in a way that average americans could understand, his delivery was flippant and very well placed in his monologue (at the end so it doesn't stand out) and probably made a lot of people laugh
'falling out like sonic rings' has too many prerequisites to 'get', you had to have played sonic, so right there huge swathes of the audience are out, and even if they're familiar with the series many won't laugh or appreciate it, it'll just make people double-take, even if it's explained it will serve only to tarnish tucker as some 'gamer reference' manchild and people won't 'get' the level the joke works on as a sort of wistful reminder of youth framed with some horrible reality of aging/modern life |
