anyway, that was one of many clownish episodes from that whole campaign. |

Date: August 14th, 2018 9:31 PM Author: Galvanic emerald kitchen partner He's actually expressed a lot of regret (I think it was in one of his books) over his decision to choose palin as his VP instead of Lieberman - and other books by campaign staff detailing the campaign talked about how there was a pretty heated split between his top staff over whether to choose Palin or not. One faction thought she was basically dumb and inexperienced, and that they did not have enough time to properly vet her at all. The other faction saw that Obama was so heavily favored basically being Elvis as a politician in 2008 combined with a just-crashed economy from a republican administration - that they basically had to just throw a hail mary and Palin was their best shot at firing up the base.
I think saying McCain is a horrible an dishonorable person that only cares about himself may be a bit harsh (I mean he chose to stay in a Hanoi prison camp rather than receiving special treatment - and was seriously tortured after that decision - I mean that may be insane but that's hardly dishonorable)
He has expressed remorse - but personally I agree that was fucked up to choose Palin to be a 71 year old heartbeat's away from being the President.
Thinking about this I'm starting to remember just how great and entertaining the 2008 election was - we forget b/c obviously 2016 overshadows it - but holy fuck the 2008 Democratic primary was great. |
