I can see why a jury wouldn't put someone away for life for the latter
If they are putting people away for 4-6 years for the former, then yea, that's too short. |

People almost always would prefer to see the case settled with the play then they have to try to make their young child testify in court at a trial and what not anyway.
So a lot of times they get plea offers for a few years in jail and lifetime sex offender registration and the defendants take it rather than run the risk of going to trial and being convicted and getting a really long jail sentence.
And the victims parents are often satisfied with an Admission of guilt some jail time and the fact that their kid won’t have to testify. |
