i guess it's because i've been in those situations before - i've been lost, i've been depressed, and i've successfully worked through it. i've known some fat people who have worked hard and gotten skinny, and they absolutely *despise* fat people now that they're fit. i think this is probably the same phenomenon - we're not really disgusted at them, we're remembering ourselves in that same undesirable state and feeling the disgust we felt at ourselves |
