No. Many special agents are legitimate "law enforcement" and therefore fall within the category of respect that one might give a normal police officer. But unlike local cops, special agents aren't serving their community. They are carrying out federal investigations, which can be highly politicized, rather than just normal keeping the peace like your local guy.
The notion that some pencil-pusher CIA or FBI (especially non-agents) are "serving" the country is laughable to say the least. Anyone that claims that, like Philip Mudd, should be derided without mercy. These guys are 9-5 teleworkers that are less qualified and work less than people in the private sector.
