Here's what you can't do:

An employee fired for any of these reasons will usually be allowed to collect unemployment benefits.

So you basically don't have to take any shit, don't have to stay late, etc. And you should intentionally make some "mistakes." But you can't show up late a lot or flat out refuse to do things. |

If you get some stupid employee to agree in writing to a rule change, you get to change the rules. They're moving the goalposts on for-cause termination and you'd have to be an idiot to agree to any of that shit.
But, part of the employment contract probably says that you'll agree to follow PIPs and will not fail to sign them. Kind of like how not signing a traffic ticket can result in your arrest, not signing a PIP can probably get you fired for cause.
