the gospels don't say a whole lot

Date: September 18th, 2018 10:11 PM Author: swashbuckling metal knife juggernaut i find it difficult to reconcile the enormity of christian religion with the sparsity of the 4 gospels. they raise more questions than they answer, especially about the nature of Jesus. i don't see how the things that are considered today to be a part of christianity actually are rooted in any kind of theology given how little these texts actually give us to work with.
has nobody even bothered to read through these short books in their entirety? or better yet, read them and think about them on their own for any period of time? mainstream christianity is a bloated mess in comparison to the unadorned and powerful gospels. |

In this sense, He is a source of familiarity with God, and the catholic (small "c") church is His bride. However, the whole ridiculous movement toward making worship music sound like cheesy romantic love songs is absurd, and South Park destroyed those people in the Christian rock episode. Jesus had very little to say about how to run a church, other than 1. gather together, 2. recruit others to join, and 3. take communion as a sacrament (churches who either don't do communion at all or even just don't do it weekly are TTT by default) but you can learn plenty about how to LIVE from the Gospels |

You're right, Christians have multiplied the complexity of the religion many times over, but most of the basics are in there. |

Also be sure to read/watch Richard Carrier because MacDonald believes in historicity which is absurd. The gospel is a commentary on the Jewish war. Also be sure to read up on how Mark is the only one worth reading. |
