Thinking about doing this. Cleaning is a pain in the ass.
How often do most people have this done? Seems like once a month would be enough.

We do. I think there was a thread on this a month or two ago.
You do not want to use a service. The employees will pick your house clean of anything worth stealing. It is only a matter of time. Instead, you want to use an individual who has been cleaning other people's houses for years without incident or complaint.
Also, most cleaning services/ladies will not agree to once a month. At a minimum, they will insist on every other week, if not every week. Yes, once a month is probably sufficient if you don't have kids, but cleaning a house once a month fucks up their schedule and, yeah, they want more money.

Yea, $80 (that includes tip) every two weeks. She does a great job, normally spends like 4 hours cleaning. Folds our clothes, washes our sheets, and does a deep cleaning (e.g., empty out the fridge/cabinets, clean them, and put everything back in place) every 2 months at the same cost.
When we have groceries delivered and she's there, she'll pick them up from the doorman and put the food away.

Yes, twice/month. As mentioned above, they generally won't agree to do it less often.
Agreed re: getting one with good recs - ask around, look on Yelp, see who people recommend on NextDoor, ask a neighbor, etc. Lots of them are flighty, and MerryMaids wanted something like $450/visit to clean our average house.
It's well worth it. Good for the marriage - she doesn't have to scrub toilets and I don't have to grit my teeth or risk WW3 when she did a shitty job with the soap scum.
