it's not brilliant strategy because it opens the door for bullshit tactics that not only could, but will, come back to bite you. in fact, that's exactly what happened to the dems since they first implemented this tactic. (it's also not "brilliant" because it was copied, a different point)
garland was nominated with plenty of time to get appointed. a fair consideration of his worthiness should have occurred and he should have gotten appointed if he was deemed worthy.

i'm not arguing otherwise. i'm saying the practice is bullshit. i guess it's naïve to believe we could expect our politicians to act reasonably and leaving it up to voters to judge each side's actions is what we are left with.
despite loving what happened, i don't think it's how things should be. it's also clear that these types of tactics aren't going anywhere soon

The problem is each side DOES NOT treat this as an actual war. Only the Dems do.
They continually go even lower, and on the offense, while cuckservatives are perpetually on the defense. And this is why cucks have lost for decades.
Indeed, even one of the few offensive moves I can remember (GOP handling of Garland) was simply copying a new low/strategy first set by the Democrats (Biden rule).

Sorry, I think you are being naive. They certainly didn’t learn after Bork.
What’s more discouraging is that Trump has showed cucks exactly how to win, yet they don’t appear to have learned a thing. If not through Trump, when?
My point is that while the cucks MAY not cave here, they haven’t grasped the bigger picture, and I don’t see how they ever will.

I get why he did it
if it is a lie (like they find an email where he says "oh man betsy wasn't into it!"), then he's done here.
If he literally forgot, which is also possible, and somehow she can prove it happened, it probably doesn't matter because the fact that she can prove it means he's probably done anyway. That's not really fair but the "it doesn't really matter" probably won't win given how tight the margin in the senate is
so why not just say it didn't happen?

yeah, email didn't exist when this occurred
she can't prove it in any reasonable way. she apparently told nobody about it for 30 years. if she could prove it, i'd still think it's bullshit, but that's a different discussion. she can't. there is no reason to believe otherwise.

the primary issue is that feinstein just sat on it until the opportune time to try to delay
also all the dems tweeting "I believe Dr Ford!" while knowing nothing is unjustifable

Edit:
Oh and i think they should subpoena her and Judge and jail whoever is lying for dalse statements

To be fair,
Can you ELI5 why the FBI can/should "investigate" this?
I'll let you assume for the sake of simplicity that FBI jurisdiction is appropriate here, though it's almost certainly not because there's no allegation that any federal crime was committed, and that jurisdictional issue in and of itself is fatal to her "request" as a threshold matter.
In return, when formulating your answer, please do me the courtesy of addressing *with specificity* the precise factual circumstances surrounding this incident that you believe the FBI is *better* positioned to "investigate" than Congress -- bearing in mind that (1) Ford knows as well as anyone on this Earth who else was present at the party in question and she either can or cannot remember their names/identities, and (2) if she can recall names/identities, Congress has the power to subpoena those individuals and extract sworn testimony from them under penalty or perjury. And no, the mere fact that she's "not comfortable" answering "tough" questions from "mean" Republican Senators doesn't cut it -- particularly in light of the fact that she has now voluntarily made her identity public, and the further fact that notwithstanding that decision the Judiciary Committee has specifically offered to take her testimony in a closed-door session.

the accuser's wishes on the timing of the release of an anonymous letter that wasn't supposed to be released?
huh?
what they should have done is looked at this for what it was, considered it shit, and asked kavanaugh about it for a few questions during the 300 hours of questioning he sat through
i don't mind them fishing for a few questions based on this pure bullshit accusation.
but what they did ain't that.

both sides have made up their mind due to politics, of course
but, if you were taking this seriously, for me, the issue is there is nothing more to investigate. She admits there were no other witness other than the Judge guy, who says it didn't happen (not that he's credible, but that's his story). She doesn't have details about time, location, place. It probably isn't a crime. There is nothing to discover, there is no additional evidence. FBI won't touch it because its not a national security concern, local authorities won't touch it unless she files a formal complain, and there is nothing they can do with it anyway - it wasn't rape and i doubt whatever it was can even be prosecuted under statute of limitations.
Everyone knows this - which is why feinstein sat on it for six weeks - because if it came out six weeks ago, they would have had six weeks to say that there is nothing out there and the dems would have nothing to complain about now.
So what do we have? he said, she said, and a democratic senator who is playing dirty
Personally, I don't think even if it happened exactly as she described it that it is relevant given that he was 17, it doesn't seem to have been a crime, and he has a 35 year record that is spotless. I understand that is likely the minority (or at least the "silent majority") view.
And perhaps she isn't lying, but we all know that witness testimony and memory can be very unreliable. People believe things happened that didn't happened, or after reliving something over and over again come to remember it being much worse, or involving different people, than it actually did. That is why there is a system that requires evidence, etc.
If you think if he did that at age 17 that it is disqualifying, then you either need to give him the benefit of the doubt when he denies it and say it is not reasonable to allow unsubstantiated allegations to sink someone, or you take a view that this is a lifetime appointment and we just can't take any risk. I'm of the former opinion.
What's the point of delaying? Feinstein, Schumer, Kamala and Spartacus all decided no a year before this guy was even nominated. The whole suggestion that we need an investigation is just a silly political game.

Great! Maybe going forward, we should just automatically accuse every Dem politician and nominee of watching child porn. I mean, that's really serious, right? Don't you agree that if these politicians are all watching child porn, that we should put in a FULL investigation? Why should we provide any evidence or testimony without a FULL investigation first? What's the rush?
I mean, you don't HATE children.....do you?

Yeah, I have no respect for people like you, who view this as a fight between teams you root for, and not governance of our country.
The number of shitty things Team X does is no justification for Team Y doing shitty things.
There are a lot of people that aren't on Team Y or Team X (including rape victims) who get hurt by the bullshit that the teams pull.

Valid point. In current circumstances I unfortunately think the gloves are off. Democrats could continue to play by a rule book the GOP has abandoned, but it becomes harder to effect the policy goals your constituents elected you to advance if you are hamstringed against an opponent that is not.
In an ideal world, Republicans respected Senate traditions of decorum and gave Garland his opportunity to receive the consent of the Senate. They did not do so for purely political reasons. They have behaved similarly awfully with respect to gerrymandering and the use of investigative committees to score political points against Clinton in advance of the 2016 election.
I'd love for honor to be returned to the Senate. Once we've restored the balance a little.

Things this insane woman does not remember:
1) whether she screams or gasped or whimpered.
2) when there a hand covered her mouth or a mouth.
These details alone make it entirely possible that the incident otherwise happened, is not a crime and that any guy who has fucked more than 3 women would never remember an incident like this. And would have no idea if drunk whether or not she felt comfortable or would regret it.
Which is why it’s not a matter of her or Kavanaugh lying.
Also lol at the clear bullshit about fearing for her life. That is made up after the fact and so is trying to call this an attempted rape.
“The only reason he didnt accomplish the rape was he was so drunk”
Actually the only reason he tried making out with your unhinged ass was because he was drunk.

Justify DEM tactics? I can think of one semi-justified explanation:
1. DiFi got the letter and thought it was clear bullshit, so she sat on it.
2. Someone else found out about it, likely through CBF's original transmittal of the letter to her Rep.
3. DiFi would have buried it completely, but was forced to come out with the letter because the party in (2) would have spilled the beans and named DiFi as obstructionist.

Not a lib at all, but this is easy. SCOTUS is now a fully political super legislature (dems fault, obviously). It no longer performs a judicial function so old standards for nominees and Senate confirmation have nothing to do with anything anymore.
Libs did this with Bork and then Thomas (nb, Biden is actually PROUD of how libs changed everything), GOP followed the new system with Garland, etc etc.
