American Animals is a true story about four college students who decide to commit a heist involving extremely rare and valuable books held in their college library. It's intertwined with interview footage of the actual dudes who commited the heist. |

The Endless dudes made another movie couple years ago called Spring that I really enjoyed as well, similarly creepy and mind bending. Try that if you haven't already.

But for most indie movies I feel like too much unnecessary shit gets crammed in now. This one was pretty refreshing because every frame of the movie felt necessary to the narrative and character development. Plus Phoenix did a good job with his role, his character was interesting, and the plot was interesting enough and did a good enough job of playing with your emotions. It felt like a good departure from what a lot of movies in a similar vein try to do now by being too sappy, dragging on things for too long, and trying too hard to convey something. I think this movie had a good economy in terms of its acting, plot, dialogue, and editing.
