No doubt. So much of a player's game flows from being able to hold effectively. This does not mean serving aces either, but crafting holds with cheeky placement, quick-serving an opponent, mixing your spins, etc. I was never that good at serving with variety and that's a big part of why I'm still just a 3.5 on my best day. But when I was practicing a lot a few years back, there were days however rare when I was serving bombs from the tree tops and bossing much better players around.

i kinda disagree as far as the hacker level goes. ive poasted this before, but being a good hacker player is about hitting 3 consecutive balls into play. most hackers make UFEs by then.

some hacker who has a monster serve is going to miss it most of the time (unless he's having a rare lucky day) and has no idea what to do with it once you get it in play, and his monster serve is predictable so you can figure how to punch it back. if he were isner, he wouldnt be a hacker.
