Senator Feinstein and the Democrats held the letter for months, only to release it with a bang after the hearings were OVER - done very purposefully to Obstruct & Resist & Delay. Let her testify, or not, and TAKE THE VOTE!

They never should have agreed to a delay, period.

It is undisputed that Feinstein received this letter back in July.

It is undisputed that she sat on it for months, even interviewing Kavanaugh while knowing about it, yet said nothing.

And Kavanaugh already went through the confirmation hearings.

The GOP should have said there is no excuse for the delay, if it was promptly reported the accusation could be thoroughly vetted behind closed doors, and it would be denying due process to indulge the accusation now. The vote goes on as scheduled.

But the key for the R's is to keep laser focus on Feinstein's misconduct and the dems' delay tactics. The fact that the allegation is 36 years old and is one isolated alleged incident against an otherwise unblemished record also helps. But that stuff is better left unsaid because it comes too close to the "victim-blaming" line which could cause squishy R's like Flake to falter.

But those investigations can and should be reopened when important things come to light prior to the vote.

Perhaps her delay was in part to prevent everyone from lawyering up and getting their stories straight before the time of the confirmation hearing. Simple strategy, even if annoying. one might even say that business is in the conturd playbook as much as on the left.
