the whole trend of younger people calling themselves "communists" is a symptom of that. obviously they're not actual marxists; it's a tribal affiliation. and yes, they are easily corralled into being "useful idiots" for the system. but they do indicate the death of the GOP, which increasingly represents positions and policies supported ONLY by boomers and x'ers.
the idea of the GOP becoming "the white party" by default will fail if the GOP civil war is lost by the populists and is won by the "romney-ryan" wing (not those two guys as individuals, but their policy of slavish support for corporations whose executives increasingly hate the GOP anyway on a personal level).
and that's NOT even primarily economic, either - it's more that this whole set of GOP policies has come to represent nothing. it doesn't represent national preservation. it doesn't represent even the least bit of resistance to the totalizing neoliberal-SJW axis which "deplatforms" the party's own supporters. it is a form of surrender and cuckery and is thus spiritually dead.
all the "DSA" and faux-communist shit IS spirited, though. it's silly, but it has some connection to the actual animating spirits that would compel people to participate politically AT ALL. the trumpless GOP is a dispirited carcass. but the boomers who run the GOP don't see ANY of this, and i wouldn't even begin to know how to explain it to them, and even if i could, i doubt they'd care. also, JJC. he doesn't run anything, but his general outlook mirrors this sad gestalt. |

trump saved the party from total oblivion, but his hold is tenuous. if that hold slips, we're back to the same dead old GOP. |
